Wherever people have worked metal by hand, the surface fills with meaning — the Mapuche greca, the filigree of a dozen traditions, a line repeated until it becomes a kind of prayer. Ornamental is the line where the detail is the ritual: dense, worked surface that rewards the slow eye and the close look. This is patience made visible, the opposite of mass-made smoothness.
