The book that named us
Wenu Mapu — the world above — is not a name invented by this brand. It is a cosmological concept of the Mapuche people, systematically documented by two Mapuche scholars who dedicated years to recording the astronomy and cosmology of their nation: Margarita Canio Llanquinao (Lof Kuzako, native mapuzungun speaker) and Gabriel Pozo Menares (PhD in History of the Americas).
About the book
Wenumapu — Astronomía y Cosmología Mapuche (OCHOLIBROS, Temuco, 2015) gathers the knowledge of dozens of mapuche speakers from the Wallmapu — the territories known today as Chile and Argentina. It is a bilingual text, in mapuzungun and Spanish, with celestial illustrations.

Our position
This brand operates commercially as Wenu Mapu SpA. It is a ritual-jewelry project founded in Truckee, California by Nicolás Ortega García. It is not a Mapuche cultural institution, nor an officially authorised ethnic seal.
We are readers of this book — not its authors. The knowledge it contains belongs to the Mapuche speakers who shared it, and to the scholars who transcribed and translated it. We work with this cosmovision because it has taught us, and we carry it on the body with care.
